Report from the weekly coordinator: M.Leberig Period: 07/05/04 - 14/05/04 *** Beam started on Wednesday 12/05 *** Summary: In the first half of the week a lot of progress was made to improve and complete the spectrometer. Apart from from BMS 6 the spectrometer was running in good conditions when the first beam arrived on wednesday afternoon. Highlight: RICH and DAQ tests. The first days of beamtime where then used to do tests and calibrations for the different typ of the detectors. RICH ==== * Readout problems solved (the most outwards jura down bora still missing) and some cards with error rate on the level of %. * Filling was sucessfully finished on monday and filterring was started. * Excellent gas transparency (above 95%) was measured W45 === * HV switched on without problems. * some noise problems, some hardware investigations done, some improvements but still main noise persits ==> Source inside the chamber ECAL ==== * 12 new ADC modules arrived (10 supposed to work) * at the end of the week 9 really worked ==> Sum = 24 modules a 64 channels PVSS ==== * the only panel color: green BMS === * Station 6 arrived on tuesday but not reday for installation * BMS timed in GEM === * Gem11 mounted DAQ === * DAQ tests done. Purpose to determine the rate capability of DAQ system * With event sizes of 40 kB trigger rates of 120 kHz (recording disabled have been achieved). * ScifiG readout problem solved by exchanging the spill buffer Target ====== * Big Problem with the polarised target: It seems that solid nitrogen is blocking He3/4 flow -> need to warm up target to 100mK to evaporate the nitrogen.
