Dear Colleagues, The Yerevan Physics Institute in Armenia and University of Erlangen in Germany are organizing the Advanced Spin Physics Workshop from August 29 till September 02, 2006 sponsored by NATO. The Workshop will take place at Nor Hamberd Conference Center of YerPhI located at 35 km from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on a picturesque slope of Mt. Aragats, 2000 m high above sea level. Scientific Motivation The purpose of the workshop is to bring together leading experimentalists and theorists to discuss the first data, which are presently becoming available in large high energy physics laboratories and comfort this data with theoretical ideas. The workshop will focus on the partonic description of hard processes, the role of quark orbital angular momentum, parton distribution and fragmentation functions. Scientific Program The program will cover topics in 1) Flavor decomposition and transversity distribution. 2) Transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distributions (Sivers effect). 3) Generalized parton distributions (GPDs) in hard exclusive processes. 4) Complementarities between partonic descriptions of hard processes in terms of GPDs and TMDs. 5) Spin physics beyond the standard model. 6) DVCS and exclusive reactions. 7) Acceleration and storage of polarized beams. 8) Polarized solid and gas targets. 9) Polarimeters for high energy polarized beams. 10) New facilities. Presentations Time allotted for an invited talk should not exceed 40 minutes, and that for an original reports - 20 minutes. The contributions presented will be published soon after the Workshop and will be sent out to all registered persons. The participants are asked to submit to the Organizing Committee original reports (together with electronic Word version of each), including tables, figures, and references. The format of submitted papers should be within 10 pages for invited talks and 4 pages for all other presentations. Proceedings and Instruction for Authors The Workshop Proceedings will be published in the NATO Science Series II - Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry by Kluwer Academic Publishers. Transportation and Accommodation Transportation from/to the Yerevan Airport Zvartnots will be provided the organizers. Information on the arrival date, time and flight number should be sending to the Workshop Organizing Committee. During the Workshop the participants will be accommodated in the local Nor Hamberd Hotel. The Workshop will be held in the same Hotel. Registration and Visas The Conference fee will be 375 $ for participants and 180 $ for accompanying person. The registration fee includes: car transportation from Yerevan airport to Nor Hamberd and back, hotel accommodation, meal (3 times per day), coffee breaks, welcome party, conference dinner, social events. The fee will be collected in Nor Hamberd, during the registration of the participants. If NATO will approve our proposal the Organizing Committee will be able to cover all or some part of key speakers expenses. For FSU participants the visa is not need. The participants from USA and Europe the Armenian entry visa can be directly received at the Yerevan airport upon arrival. To complete the proposal we need tentative list of participants and preliminary version of their talk. We would like to submit the proposal at the end of May. Please, let us know as soon as possible, if you would like to participate in this Workshop and very preliminary title of your talk. Organizing Committee R.
