SAFETY MEETING 21-03-01 1. Electrical zones - classification of hazardous areas Note that all areas where flammable gas is used should be classified in terms of the hazardous area classification (zone1,2,3 etc page 58 flammable gas safety manual)so that TIS/Electrical specialist can make inspection & recommendations. This has been done recently for the gas-mixing zone. The rest are to be classified as soon as possible a)B908 b)GAS MIXING AREA = Zone 2 c) DC + Micromegas = d): RICH TENT = e ) MW2 = f) RICH TEST ZONE = J Gulley and M Davenport to classify and then TIS/Electrical to inspect. 2. GAS RACKS TO BE USED IN FLAMMABLE GAS MIXING ENCLOSURE Note : All new racks before construction - send circuit diagram of system plus details of all electrical components and sketch of position in rack to FGSO and TIS. All new racks to be inspected/tested by C Margaroli TIS mechanical and G Salomon TIS Electrical. RICH CH4 Circuit diagram available RICH group to provide G Salomon/TIS with a dossier of electrical component specs of the RICH CH4 re-circulation rack. GS to discuss with Bosteels' electrician. MW2: Circuit diagram available If it is proposed to use the Fromm rack as a permanent fixture - then in this case arrange with F Hahn/D Fromm to change the pipework from plastic to metallic. Mass flowmeters to be checked by TIS/Electric MW1: (non-flammable) Details of any electrical components to be supplied to TIS Plastic pipes admissible Circuit diagram, of system needed DC and Micromegas: New racks or Fromm racks? Circuit diagram, of system needed. Details of all electrical components and sketch of position in rack. DC: Differential flow measurements - 2 channels - strongly recommended (consult F Hahn). Metal pipes throughout. RICH test zone gas rack: Add flow limiter on the pressure regulator of the primary gas rack when flow limit in B908 is increased. 3. VENTILATION SYSTEM Position of the ventilation duct exhaust to be decided (JG, MD) and given to J Lindroos ST/CV Define Alarm actions if ventilator fault. 4. NOXAL 2% for C4F10 regeneration Status of tests? 5. DETECTION HEADS FOR EXPERIMENTAL ZONE GAS MIXING ZONE 4 Heads 0-15% (buy a spare? Possibility to move heads from top to bottom of enclosure) 4 heads 0-100% Exhaust connections: Recommend placing one of the 0-100% heads next to exhaust connections since all 4 are not needed in enclosure. Zone 1 : DC + Micromegas 2 Catalytic Heads - must be protected against B field Zone 2 : RICH TENT O2, Smoke, CH4 close to chambers were recommended SDN what is the status? Alarm actions to define if ventilator fault. Zone 3 : MW2 SDN or catalytic? Place one gas retention bund under each wall One head in each bund? (2 in total) Zone 4 : RICH TEST ZONE One head 6. RICH TENT 8000m3/hr recirculation, 300 m3/h fresh air, tent volume ~ 420 m3. Material of tent ? When will it be installed? Alarms in tent (O2, smoke ,CH4 ) What alarm actions ? Must define the electrical zone (JG/MD) 7. RICH TEST ZONE Need to install audible and visual alarms in zone for Level 2 Cut 220V if Level 3 Exhaust for safety bubbler outside Define electrical zone (JG,MD) Alarm actions same as other zones? 8. MW2 Materials used in gas connection ?- TIS to authorise Gas connections - TIS to authorise Inertion flow of N2 required. 9. FLOW LIMITERS B908 CH4 RICH 500l/h CH4 MW2 ~ 200l/h C2H6 DC, Micromegas ~ 200l/h To be ordered where necessary by NA58 via M Bosteels 10. GAS EMERGENCY OFF BUTTONS Request from FGSOC to FGSO/TIS to study functionality in each area and decide if to remove or not. Question to NA58 - What actions does the general emergency off trigger ? What actions does the general smoke alarm trigger?
