Minutes from target meeting held September 19 2014 in 892-2-B15 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2014/ a) Genki: mount speer thermometers TTH1 on upstream cell, TTH2 downstream and TTH7 inside the central microwave stopper. The ruthenium oxide sensor TTH5 is mounted at the upstream end of the downstream target cell and TTH6 at the downstream end. Prepare helium-3 tube on the bottom of the target cells. b) Connect pt100 thermometers on the target. These are the horizontal screen outlet, dilution cryostat top flange, still line top, NMR rack, screen/separator flow pipe and magnet downstream vacuum window. In addition there is one unused cable if needed. c) On Thursday purge and clean helium pumps cooling water circuit. Clean the filter of the inlet pressure regulator. Now the "brute" water from the cooling towers can be used. d) On Wednesday install zeolite filter heaters on the helium-3 roots blowers. Pump dry nitrogen from a dewar until Friday evening to remove any water impurities from the system. Continue to run the pumps over the weekend without heaters and by pumping the outlet with a small rotary pump. e) Norihiro: several purge cycles done with the magnet and dilution cryostat. First clean helium gas is let into the volume and then this gas is pumped out. The magnet helium vessel is not designed to be vacuum tight and small amount of air enters during the pumping phase. The helium-4 pumps and their outlet filters were disconnected from the system. In this condition 2 ppm O2 and 8 ppm H2O impurities were measured for the flow through the dilution cryostat only. The flow through the magnet gave about same level of oxygen while the H2O remained at 20 - 30 ppm. Probable reason for this humidity is the porous epoxy used to impregnate the coil winding. f) Norihiro: LHe dewar level and pressure and external LN2 reservoir level signals are available and need to be re-connected to the Siemens PLC. g) Kaori: pull the cables from the control room to the NMR rack below the platform on Jura side. Many of these cables are used to control the PTS frequency synthesizer. The NMR rack power is connected to the diesel network plug nearby. Jaakko: the helium-3 thermometer needs probably to be installed close to the same area. h) Takahiro: problem mounting NV2 needle valve motor on Jura side of the dilution cryostat due to the vertical pillar.
