Minutes from target meeting held June 6 2014 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2014/ a) Helium leak testing of the helium-3 roots blowers was done by pumping the inlet and outlet simultaneously with a leak detector. No helium leaks found on the installed water cooled heat exchangers. Stop pumping and monitor the pressure P1 at the roots inlet. Linear increase of pressure observed, which could mean a leak or could be due to absorbed water vapor in the pump oil. Mount the cover plates on the heat exchangers and reconnect water pipes. Test water flow. Small leaks found on two of the flow control valve cover plugs. Run all roots blowers for half an hour. The air conditioning unit of the pump room flashing with "Default general" light. Repair request submitted from CERN service portale. On Monday morning start the air conditioning and all the roots blowers. After three hours of operation air conditioning failure again. Break the vacuum on Monday evening. Disconnect the water connections going to the internal heat exchanger of WKP4000 on Tuesday morning. Unmount the heat exchanger. Separate the copper part from the plate. The copper heat exchanger was send the Pfeiffer Suisse to get estimate of the work for rebuilding the same unit from stainless steel. See the photos: \dfs\Experiments\Compass\PT_data\Photos\Jaakko\2014_06_03 b) Werner from Pfeiffer: in typical helium-3 pumping conditions used during the run 2011 the outlet gas temperature of WKP4000 was estimated to rise to 90 - 120 C while the temperatures around 200 C are not yet critical. Thus it should be possible to run this pump without the water cooled heat exchanger. Monitoring of the gas temperature at the WKP4000 outlet is probably a good idea. c) Jaakko: Request from the CERN main workshop to get 3D step files of the drawings NA58PT20131106-1, NA58PT20130813-1, NA58PT20131129-1 and NA58PT20130809-1. d) Testing of the gate valve on the helium-3 pumping line was discussed. e) LN2 is not yet available for filling the liquid nitrogen trap buffer dewar in the pump room. f) Fabrice: installation work of the magnet control racks in the fenced zone and cabling is going on. The solenoid power converter is not yet installed. About half of the cables produced. The patch panel for the signal cables needs to be produced, but the drawing has already been done. The power cable patch panel comes from the electrical services. The electrical network emergency stop needs to be modified to cut the power from the fenced zone and the platform simultaneously. g) Kaori: empty the most downstream rack in the control room from the magnet trim coil power supplies. One trim coil power supply dropped accidentally on the floor during this operation. The rack moved to new position more upstream next to the microwave power supply rack. Electricity needs to be still connected from the Normabarre above the racks. Ethernet communication tested successfully between the PXI crate and NMR PC. Next planned to test the NMR system in the control room with the Q-meters connected.
