Minutes from target meeting held January 26 2012 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2012/ a) The possibility to use the SMC magnet for the Drell-Yan data taking was discussed. The magnet is longer than the present COMPASS magnet and needs modifications to the target platform. The LN2 precooling of the SMC magnet was done with Siemens PLC control system programmed and wired by the target group. The LHe filling was controlled with a separate control box, which is now unused (Naoki). The current setting and field rotation was done with an old Sun computer and VXI crate. The dipole power supply from Drusch and the security box are the same that are used now with the COMPASS magnet. Old Drusch power supply was used for the solenoid. Two of the trim coils needed also a little higher current than that available with ET System power supplies now in use. b) The test done on November 21 after the beam time was discussed. The trim coils were set to zero and the NMR-signals from the empty target cells were recorded while pumping out helium from the mixing chamber at 1.5 - 2 K. The signal is noisy and it is difficult to identify the correct peak position. The data needs more careful analysis. c) Draft report from Saclay on "COMPASS Polarized Target magnets, Tests and analysis following the 2011 incidents".
