Minutes from target meeting held February 17 2012 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2012/ a) On Friday afternoon unmount isolation vacuum turbo pump on the bottom of the dilution cryostat and the gate valve. Remove the helium-3 needle valve control motors on Jura side. Remove isolation vacuum pipes and vacuum gauges. Install target loading platform in place. On Monday morning remove tape heaters on the dilution cryostat top part. Umount the still pumping line bellows. Remove the helium-4 evaporator pressure gauges. b) On Wednesday morning install access platform downstream of the target magnet. Open the conical re-entrant isolation vacuum flange. Remove the superinsulation and 4 K radiation shield to access the microwave cavity. Check the centering of the cavity to the magnet: 58 mm Jura, 58 mm Saleve, 58 mm up and 56 mm down. The cavity end window has been pressed on the mixing chamber. Possible reasons: thermal shrinking, pressing by conical re-entrant window, negative pressure inside cavity or forces due to eddy currents during a magnet quench. The top part of the central teflon support ring has also dropped probably due to thermal shrinking. Three lead bricks at distance of 40 cm from the upstream flange. The craning operation done by using four eye bolts on the dilution cryostat top flange. Remove the connecting bolts to the magnet and extract the dilution cryostat with the microwave cavity slowly from the magnet. The dilution cryostat moved to the clean area and fixed to the bench together with the microwave cavity. d) Fabrice: unmount the safety valves from the magnet helium vessel on Friday afternoon. e) Kaori: the Q-meter boxes and the PXI-crate need to be moved to the office from the experimental area. f) The polarization data of the run 2010 was discussed. Needs still more work to understand the results. g) Yuri: the microwave cavity needs to be opened for inspection of the microwave stoppers and modifications for the Drell-Yan physics target. h) Miroslav: possibility to produce new water cooled heat exchangers for the helium-3 roots blowers by Institute of Scientific Instruments in Brno (Ales) is being investigated. The other possibility would be VAKUUM Praha. i) Photos from the frozen cooling water incident in the pump room http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Photos/PumpCoolWater6Feb12.jpg http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Photos/PumpCoolWater6Feb12b.jpg http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Photos/PumpCoolWater6Feb12c.jpg
