Minutes from target meeting held February 9 2012 in 61-1-017 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2012/ a) On Monday morning frozen ice on the pump room floor was discovered. In the cooling water manifold the pressure regulator at the feed to the pumps had exploded. The water was frozen due to low outside temperature. The present heaters are not capable to keep the temperature above freezing during the exceptionally cold weather conditions. The water circuits in the pumps were drained November 22 - 23 and the hoses disconnected from the feed. b) On Tuesday break the target isolation vacuum with nitrogen gas. Drain the water from the diffusion pump. The diffusion pump unmounted on Thursday afternoon. c) Werner: no company found from Germany to produce new heat exchangers for the Pfeiffer helium-3 roots blowers (1978). The normal refurbishment can still be done. Plan to have a meeting with Pfeiffer and CERN. One possibility is to produce new heat exchangers at CERN workshop. The heat produced in pumping could be tested with helium or nitrogen gas. d) The Drell-Yan target cell geometry is 55+20+55 cm and 4 cm in diameter. For the new target material filling hole positions a new aramide epoxy (Kevlar) target holder needs to be produced in addition to the target cells. e) The target polarization and cryogenics data are now in the CERN central subversion service https://svnweb.cern.ch/trac/ptcryo https://svnweb.cern.ch/trac/ptpolaris f) Kaori: calculate new Curie constants for 2010. Up to 10 % difference from the previously used values http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/elog/target_polar/145
