Minutes from target meeting held December 9 2011 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2011/ a) EU Workshop FP7 SPINMAP took place at Linz/Rhein Germany December 6 - 7. b) The Roots of the LHC Technology: CERN Centennial Superconductivity Symposium took place at CERN on December 8. See http://indico.cern.ch/event/superconductivity2011 c) The winter shutdown was discussed. Didier will fill LN2 to the target material storage dewars. d) Unmounting of the pipes from the target platform to the concrete wall was discussed. The crane operation is planned on the Tuesday January 17. The magnet and the mixing chamber will slowly warm up to room temperature during the winter shutdown. From Fabrice on Friday December 2: The magnet was kept cold over the last week-end. I closed the valve providing LHe to the magnet on Monday morning and the cryostat was empty on Tuesday morning. Then the magnet started to warm up. Wednesday at noon the vacuum pumping was stopped and I degraded the isolation vacuum (coil average temperature ~55K) to speed up the warm up process at around 3K/h. Yesterday morning the speed was a bit lower than 2K/h then in the afternoon a PSU was connected to the solenoid to deliver a small current to help to warm up, but the effect is not very visible. At 8:00 today the average temperature of the coil is 134K with a slope of ~1.6K/h. During the week of 12th December a team from Saclay plans to come to perform additional tests on the magnet at room temperature. Last Friday I closed the demineralized water valves on the magnet PSU. Yesterday I closed the brute water valves for the diffusion pump. It seems that the brute water is still circulating for the NMR rack. Regards, Fabrice
