Minutes from target meeting held July 30 2010 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2010/ a) Start transverse data taking on Sunday morning 0:00 with polarizations +84.2%, -83.8% and +82.3%. Increase polarization on Wednesday from +83.4%, -82.2% and +81.1% to +84.3%, -83.1% and +82.3%. Thus about 1 % increase in six hours. b) Norihiro: transverse NMR signal shift of about 200 kHz seen when ramping down the SM1. SM1 may influence also the optimal tuning of the microwaves during the polarization build up. c) Jaakko: calculate thermal equilibrium calibration temperatures. See http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/elog/target_polar/86 d) Remote controlling of the microwave attenuator was discussed. e) Yuri: free electrons for polarization could be saturated with microwaves to study the asymmetry of the highly polarized proton NMR-lineshape. Also reversal of the nitrogen-14 spins could be tried. In SMC during 96 run the proton NMR signal measured at low field showed similar asymmetry seen in 2.5 T. Norihiro: target holder NMR signal could also contribute to the asymmetry. This could be check with empty cell DNP. f) Rough time lines for the design and production of new microwave cavity and target cells for the Drell-Yan data taking were given.
