Minutes from target meeting held September 17 2010 in 892-1-B09 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2010/ a) Microwave reversal started on Friday noon one week ago. Sunday 8:00 polarizations +82.6 %, -80.3 % and +80.3 % reached. Start transverse data taking in dipole field from 9:30. b) New baratron for the helium-3 vapor pressure thermometer was discussed. See Pressure/Vacuum Measurement in http://www.mksinst.com . c) Ana Sofia: jump seen in dipole field from polarized ammonia proton signals. Kaori: fix LabVIEW program used to determine the NMR-peak position. See http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/elog/target_polar/93 d) Yuri: energy from the frozen spins released when dipole current reduced to 10 A. This was seen as sudden heating up of the mixing chamber. Detection of nitrogen-14 signal was tested at 2.667 MHz when ramping down the dipole field. e) Kaori: possible explanation for stopping of the PXI crate was found. New tasks were created but were not deleted. The long term operation seems more stable now. f) Norihiro: for more stable COMPASS spectrometer and target NMR operation a standard start up procedure for the magnets is preferable. Typically the SM1 is switched on when the target dipole is already at full current. Better procedure is to start first SM1 and ramp up the dipole after that.
