Minutes from target meeting held November 11 2010 in 892-1-B09 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2010/ a) Back to longitudinal 2.5 T field Wednesday 4:12 with polarizations +77.5 %, -74.2 % and +76.4 %. Go to zero field for alignment run. At 6:00 ramp up the solenoid to 2.5 T. Small residual polarization left. Start microwaves 6:30. The up/downstream EIP 578B (Phase Matrix since 1999) frequency counter works in the beginning, but display becomes blank after one hour of operation. The microwave switch on the table for the up/down or central cell power is reconnected to the counter mixer diode and YIG-filter. In this way only one frequency counter can be used to monitor both of the generators. Thursday 16:00 polarizations -77.4 %, +77.5 % and -77.2 % reached and go to transverse 0.63 T field. Yuri: normally two largest pumps are stopped and still heater is switched off in zero field. See http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/elog/target_polar/104 b) Three days of technical run on the last days of beam time or after the beam time was discussed. This would include repolarization of all cells to same spin direction to see the effect of microwave leakage. Similar test was already performed at the beginning of the run. There is also some interest to test the melting of spin dipole ice in absence of Zeeman energy when the magnetic field is set to zero with high nuclear polarization. c) Angelo: new simulations on radiation dose from hadron absorber downstream of polarized target.
