Minutes from target meeting held December 10 2010 in 892-1-D12 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2010/ a) Measure the weight of the downstream target material sock on Monday. The small amount of solid ammonia found from the mesh in the LN2 bath after the unloading (marked as "downstream 2") was measured on Tuesday. b) Yusuke gave a talk on the material weighing. Stable value reached in 4 - 10 hours. The weight of the sock, thread and label need to be subtracted from the gross weight. c) The target slow control system was discussed. The CERN PVSS support was contacted for the details on how the Siemens S7 300 PLC could be read (ICE controls). The target PLC system installed in 2003 is very similar to the one installed in 2010 for the new helium-4 pumps with the same communication processor for the ethernet connection. All the important dilution cryostat pressures, flows and temperatures are already read by the target PLC system. It would be interesting to add monitoring/control of the five needle valves to the PLC system. For the low temperature thermometers below 1 K and the diode thermometers at higher temperatures GPIB-bus is used. These could still be read with the LabVIEW program or an Ethernet to GPIB controller could be used. d) Ana Sofia: COMPASS DCS is monitoring the PLCs using OPC or MODbus server. LabVIEW can also act as an OPC server. e) The status of the gate valve in the helium-3 pumping line was discussed. f) Technical power cut took place on Wednesday. Isolation vacuum diffusion pump stopped. g) Planning for 2011 physics start was discussed. For the longitudinal data taking a field rotation is usually done once per day.
