Minutes from target meeting held January 8 2010 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2010/ a) Start pumping isolation vacuum on December 14. December 16 vacuum of 3 10^-2 mbar reached with rotary pump. Connect leak detector to the vacuum vessel. Gas helium into separator, vertical screen and horizontal screen lines. Fill also helium-4 evaporator. No leaks to isolation vacuum detected. Let gas into helium-3 pumping line and mixing chamber. No leaks detected into isolation vacuum. January 8 spray helium outside of vacuum vessel on the o-ring joints. No leaks detected. Pressure of 2 10^-2 mbar reached with rotary pump. The PT48B vacuum pressure display unit has disappeared during the storage. b) Cool down new target cells made of teflon mesh on December 15. Fill the upstream cell with quartz grit. The filling works though the longitudinal teflon support rods bend due to the weight inside the cell. The measured cell lengths 27.5, 56.5 and 28.5 cm +- 1 cm do not change significantly when cooled to LN2 temperature. c) The pump room temperature on January 7 morning about +3 - +4 C after cold night. The roots water circuit was purged before winter shut down and needs to be reconnected to the new water supply. d) The cavity pumping line from the concrete wall to the target platform was found to have been cut and reused for something else during the storage. New line needs to be welded. e) Yuri: test directional coupler with IMPATT diode to reduce reflected power. Two times more power possible if successful. f) Kaori: new PXI create for NMR expected in two weeks. g) Jaakko: update list of cables and o-rings in the Wiki http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/PolarizedTarget/PolTargCable http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/PolarizedTarget/PolTargOrings
