Minutes from target meeting held March 20 2008 in 892-2-009 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2008/ a) The ISPTA08 talks now available online http://www.quark.kj.yamagata-u.ac.jp/iss/ISPTA/ISPTA_index.html b) Jaakko: robust median and 18/82 % quantile time cuts to the integrated TE-areas. Make area times temperature histograms for May and November TE-calibration periods. TTH5 was used for November and the value was corrected for the 2.5 T field. Plots and histograms in elog. c) Yuri: old vacuum valve microwave PSU was dismantled for spare parts. Nitrogen quadrupole heat capacity needs to be taken into account in the determination of nitrogen polarization in ammonia (about 14 % from EST). d) Kaori: new EIO tube and power supply received from CPI. Install PSU to the control room for testing. Comments from Yuri: Besides the items were mentioned below by Jaakko, we also discussed the next: 1. I asked Jaakko to inform Collaboration that one of ours microwave EIO-tube was damaged. This happened during its transportation to Canada or its matching with the new EIO-power supply in Canada. 2. The old microwave power supply was removed at all, because its high voltage transformer has already been used under repair of other one. 3. Last week Kaori and Yuri renewed and tested the water cooling system for EIO-temperature control. We also installed the new EIO-tube on the upstream position without any electric connections. 4. Yuri informed about his preparation of PT-paper describing the asymmetry method for the cross-checking of polarizations along the NH3-target. 5. Kaori sad that she has had all needed data for the calculation of the RUN-2007 target polarizations. That's all. Yuri Kiselev. Comments from Takahiro: Dear Yuri and others The damaged EIO tube has been fixed by CPI by our request ( the cost is covered by Yamagata). There was a problem of an insulator located outside the tube. The tube will be sent back to CERN soon. > 1. I asked Jaakko to inform Collaboration that one of ours microwave EIO-tube was damaged. This happened during its transportation to Canada or its matching with the new EIO-power supply in Canada. Regards, Takahiro
