Minutes from target meeting held February 8 2008 in 892-1-B09 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2008/ a) The helium-3 pumping line was removed on Tuesday. The target platform rotation took place on Wednesday. b) The International Symposium on Polarized Target and Its Applications will take place in Yamagata from February 29 to March 1. See http://www.quark.kj.yamagata-u.ac.jp/iss/ISPTA/ISPTA_index.html c) The 25th international conference on Low Temperature Physics LT25 will take place in Leiden August 6 - 13, see http://www.lt25.nl/ Special topics in LT25 are the cryotechnology in astrophysics, cosmology, and high-energy particle physics. d) Kaori: plot all polarization data 2007. Use average of the two proton background measurements to correct the TE-areas. Problem for coil #2 when using coil #6 as a scale during 1.0 T data taking. e) Fabrice: cold Si rack will be installed next to the magnet PSUs on the rotated target platform. f) Yuri produced a plot of asymmetric/symmetric part ratio of the NMR signal vs. polarization. Microwaves are likely to change the nuclear resonance lineshape due to the polarized free electrons. The spin diffusion process is spreading the nuclear polarization inside the target material. g) Ishimoto: plans to use the Michigami 1 K 5 T polarized target system in Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). Gluing of the end cap 0.2 mm mylar window to the 180 mm diameter glassfiber vacuum vessel of the COMPASS hydrogen target was discussed. h) Jaakko: comparison of raw integrated TE-areas and gaussian fit areas in elog. The raw integrated areas are about 2 - 7 % higher than gaussian fit areas. For the empty target cells the difference is 2 - 14 %.
