Minutes from target meeting held August 31 2007 in 888 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2007/ a) Yuri produced final TE-calibration constants based on comparison with the SMC NMR signals by calculating the best correlation. The data during SM1 switching on or off was not used. Both signs of polarization were analyzed. The constants apply only to positive solenoid current in the COMPASS magnet. Norihiro: correction factor for negative solenoid current needs to be worked out. b) Norihiro: start frozen spin mode on Thursday August 23 in 1.0 T field. On Monday August 27 microwave reversal from -|+|- to +|-|+ configuration. On Thursday at 16:00 start frozen spin mode with polarizations +94.5%, -81.8% and +85.0% followed by field rotation from -650 A solenoid current to +650 A (2.5 T). On Friday 12:30 go to +260 A (1.0 T). Relaxation times from the last 1.0 T frozen spin mode where 3500 h, 2100 h and 4200 h. c) Takuma made new 1 T configuration file to have complete absorption and dispersion signal inside the frequency window for all coils. d) Jaakko made program to simulate polarization relaxation using the nuclear heat capacity of the target spin system. See 'man polrlx' in na58pc057. This program was used to analyze the seven transverse frozen spin mode periods. Using Yuri's calibration constants the equivalent heat flow to spin system would be 183 pW/mol, 175 pW/mol and 234 pW/mol. This would mean temperature difference between up- and downstream cells 234/183 = +28 %. With May 2 TE constants the difference is +80 %. Needs to be compared with the thermometers inside the target holder during transverse mode. e) Possible publication on the three target cell results inside the COMPASS magnet was discussed.
