Minutes from target meeting held January 13 2006 in 892-1-B09 These minutes are available also from: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/Minutes/2006/ a) Magnet precooling with LN2 was started. Small leaks from liquid helium vessel piping were fixed. Small leak from the current leads and from some of the valves connected to the quench vent line was observed. b) Alain said that visit from Danfysik to CERN needs to be organized to verify the proper operation of the solenoid power supply. c) Yuri was measuring the microwave power losses in the wave guide transitions from outside to the microwave cavity. d) Vladimir: the magnet coil was positioned 2 mm below its nominal position before Christmas together with John Mellors. The estimated thermal shrinking of the suspension cables moves it to the nominal position when the magnet is cooled to the LHe temperature. The upstream radiation shields on the magnet were also positioned correctly. For the downstream the fixing holes of the re-entrant shield had to be modified to position it to the center. Mechanical test together with the re-entrant vacuum window was done. To be done: produce a new dural ring for the radiation shield with holes to be drilled in place, modify holes for the re-entrant shield, purchase aluminium foil, superinsulation and aluminium tape. e) Jaakko: the magnet isolation vacuum was leak tested with the dilution cryostat mounted on it and the re-entrant vacuum window installed before Christmas. The 3He pumping line is well aligned with the pumping ports on the dilution cryostat. The DN200 quench vent line was welded and the safety valves were connected to it. f) Goran Perinic from AT/ECR calculated the safety valve dimensioning for the worst case of sudden loss of isolation vacuum. In this case the 3.5 bar abs burst disk is expected to break, for smaller incidents the RSBD +0.5 bar safety valve is enough. Remarks from Vladimir to the minutes: "The upstream radiation shields on the magnet were also positioned correctly". > > > I didn't say that<<< "For the downstream the fixing holes of the re-entrant shield had to be modified to position it to the center". > > > The upper and bottom holes were enlarged in vertical direction as much as possible to check if it will be enough to enable assembly with the "hat". It seems to be enough (but final answer will be given taking into account real displacement of cold mass, measured with 6 gages, installed by Jean-Ives). If so, either the new holes to be made on the shields' flange or existing ones to be modified ( all of them to be enlarged in one direction )<<<
