Minutes from target meeting held June 30 2005 in 892-1-B09 a) The OD magnet solenoid was ramped up to 2.7 T with special procedure to eliminate the broken trim coil. Preliminary field homogeneity of 100 ppm has been reached. More careful field mapping is in progress. The OD magnet safety system was tested with 400 A current. About 3000 l of LHe is lost in an induced quench. b) Werner said that new target cell is ready for NH3. Low temperature testing of NH3 in a dilution cryostat is in progress. Norihiro said that the NH3 polarization should be monitored in the transverse mode with a specially tuned NMR coil. c) 3 target cells were discussed. Yuri is preparing drawings for a large diameter microwave cavity with 3 target cells in addition to the existing conical cavity produced by Jaakko and Peter in 1998. d) Robert started to check polarization data in Compass Run Logbook database. Corrections from Claude Marchand: Hi Jakko, some clarifications to your summary to not propogate false informations: On Mon, 4 Jul 2005, Jaakko Henrik Koivuniemi wrote: > > Minutes from target meeting held June 30 2005 in 892-1-B09 > > a) The OD magnet solenoid was ramped up to 2.7 T with special procedure > to eliminate the broken trim coil. we do not eliminate the "shorted" trim coil, we just ensure that the induced current is 0 after having reached "homogenuous" field. > Preliminary field homogeneity of 100 ppm > has been reached. The quench detection system works at any current, up to 700A. > About 3000 l of LHe is lost > in an induced quench. We have lost less than 3000l of LHe in ALL quenches induced so far (about 8). I estimate that we loose about 300 in one quench induced at 2.5 T. Regards, Claude MARCHAND.
