Minutes from target meeting held January 20 2005 in 892-1-B09 a) The Oxford-Danfysik magnet has been cooled to 200 K with LN2 by Thursday January 20 at Saclay. 5 thermometers (3 pt100s and 2 cernox) are monitored simultaneously during precooling. The cooling rate is 1.7 K/h. The cooling will continue next week with 2000 l LHe dewars. The magnet will be tested up to 2.7 T maximum. 2 - 3 training quenches are expected though they are less probable with this kind of solenoid than in some other magnet structures where the windings are not originally in good position. b) Alain pointed out the importance of good field mapping outside the solenoid. Different ways to confirm the calculated field map with measurement are in consideration. c) Fabrice told about magnet testing at Saclay. Outer vacuum chamber (OVC) was pumped to 10^-4 mbar on January 11. The internal LHe vessel was pressurized up to 5.5 bar abs for 7 min and 3.4 bar abs for 20 min. No leaks to OVC were found on level 3.8 10^-9 mbar l/s. LN2 precooling line was also pressurized to 3.5 bar abs with helium and no leaks to LHe vessel were found. A short LN2 shock cooling was done and the thermometers showed 20 K lower value. On Friday January 14 electrical insulations were checked: solenoid-dipole, solenoid-trims and dipole-trims. Magnet was filled with N2 gas and test voltage was increased from 1 kV to 2.5 kV. Also the dipole discharge circuit was tested. The trim coils were checked by putting current to them. A mistake in wiring A and B trim coils was found. The diode and resistor that should be across each coil are actually connecting the two coils together. Solution is being looked for. d) Stefan proposed new independent cooling water system for solenoid and dipole PSUs. This system would be running from UPS giving uninterrupted water cooling for the magnet PSUs. e) Stefan said that the nominal position for the new target magnet is ok. The Scifi station at down stream end of magnet should be mounted inside the re-entrant tube of the magnet. f) The 3 target cell possibility was discussed. Yuri proposed some new ideas for microwave cavity. g) Kaori said that Iwata needs the EIP microwave frequency meter diode in Yamagata. h) Yuri showed calculations on OD magnet solenoid field and field from trim coils. The homogeneous field region is expected to be 130 cm long.
