Minutes from target meeting held May 19 2005 in 892-1-B09 a) Stephane: The OD magnet solenoid was powered to 200 A with 0.7 T field. First field mapping was done at this field. b) Norihiro was estimating the time needed for a field rotation with the OD magnet. It should be 10 minutes longer than for the SMC magnet. c) Kaori: analysis coordinator gave list of runs 2002 - 2004 where the polarization value is missing. These are mostly very short runs of 3 minutes or less. This is less than the 15 min typical polarization measurement interval in frozen spin mode. There are about 140 runs like this. The runs taken during field rotation are not yet included in the analysis. d) Meeting with Vladimir and Stephane: the diagonal supports on the target platform should be modified for the OD magnet. Question: can the Helium dewar be moved more to Jura side. The position of the OD magnet gas panel was discussed. Three options: top of the magnet, Saleve side of the magnet or Jura side next to the gas lines. The last option would probably minimize the total length of flexible hoses. e) Jaakko showed inductance calculations with Monte Carlo method using energy version of the Neumann formula. The generated current distribution takes into account the skin depth. The geometry can be visualized with help of Root Geometry package. The resulting inductance matrix is in good agreement with the formulas for mutual inductance. For self inductance estimation there seems to be a problem of factor two compared to the formulas in literature. The inductance and radio frequency resistance of different metallic object are important in NMR, microwave wave guide performance and induction of eddy currents from superconducting solenoid to the dilution cryostat.
