Minutes from target meetings held May 4 2005 in 892-1-B09 a) Talks for the Miltenberg meeting June 2 - 4 were discussed. b) Offer for new Kevlar tubes was received from Laboratory of Lightweight Structures (http://www.lls.hut.fi/). They are about 300 eur/piece and manufacturing takes 2 - 3 weeks. c) NMR coil design for the NH3 target was discussed. Yuri was worried about the temperature stability of the varactor diodes for the proton 106 MHz frequency. d) Norihiro said that the equal spin temperature between 14N and 1H should be tested in the technical run. In NIMA 437 (1999) 23: "The use of 15NH3 with spin 1/2 15N nuclei was not feasible in our experiment because of high cost of the material." - is this still true for COMPASS? e) The OD magnet was filled with LHe. Evaporation of LHe is 15 l/hour. Next the Magnet Safety System (MSS) will be tested before powering up the magnet. f) Fabrice checked SMC solenoid and SM1 interaction. The change in transverse field direction is two times smaller than for the OD magnet and four times smaller in the longitudinal direction. For the tracking the influence of the SM1 on the integrated field gives only 0.02 % correction. Thus the superposition of the SMC and SM1 fields is good enough for the tracking. (note: author of these minutes is not expert in tracking - the information above can be inaccurate or incomplete).
