Minutes from target meeting held on 28th of March 2003 in 892-1-B09 a) The rotary pump 3631B was serviced by technician from Busch. The technician said that the pump is not designed for pumping Helium. The Busch pumps for Helium have o-rings, while the 3631B has more simple gaskets. Complete overhaul was done in the experimental hall including new shaft seals. After pumping with the pump over night 0.2 mbar at the inlet could be reached. When the pump is stopped leak detector does not show any leaks in the pump inlet. When the pump is running a small leak in the oil heat connection could be located. The Busch technician said that he can not fix the leak. The leak was fixed later by Jaakko and Ales by retightening the joint and using Teflon tape. Dietrich asked how much money is lost due to impurities in returning Helium gas and how big investments to the system are justified. Jaakko said that this question was asked last year from Klaus Barth, but no response was given. b) The reception of the Pfeiffer roots pump was not correctly recorded to the CERN reception database. Finally the pump was found from building 170 and transported to building 888. c) Target cell volumes were measured at room temperature. The volume of the filled material was 420 cm^3. After removing the material from the target cell its volume was measured to be 421 cm^3 for upstream. The same values for the downstream target cell were 416 and 420 cm^3. Thus the room temperature cell volumes are 420 +- 10 cm^3 for upstream and 418 +- 10 cm^3 for downstream. At LN2 the cells were filled with quartz pieces. This measurement gives volumes 413 +- 10 cm^3 for downstream and 411 +- 10 cm^3 for upstream. d) The pt100 connector panel was finished by Masami. e) In the vertex distribution plot NMR coils on the surface of target cells are clearly visible. Dietrich said that the radial resolution is better than 1 mm. f) The dilution cryostat pipework is ready. The oxygen deficiency alarm for the pump room is under discussion with TIS and the COMPASS technical coordinator. g) Yuri presented a second draft for the Bad Honnef conference. It is about Kramers-Kroniger relations for NMR with Mathematica to correct nonlinearity. Yuri will start to work on the microwaves next Monday. Norihiro asked about the FM with new PSU. h) Kaori installed a new 40 GB hard disk to the NMR PC. The operating system is Nice 2000 with LabVIEW 6.1 and MXI. Testes show that the system is running well.
