Minutes from target meeting held on 12th of December 2002 in 892-2-009 a) The man power from Prague group to target was discussed. Ales Srnka is specialised to superconducting magnets and NMR. He could be present during the start up period of the target for about 2 months. Stephan Neliba has started to work on his diploma. He could be present at CERN 3 - 5 months possibly part of the time as CERN summer student. During the data taking Fingers are going to take target shifts. b) Yuri summarised the difficulties in 2002 data TE-calibration. Upstream had problems but average polarisation is ok. Downstream polarisation values are good, but small coil #6 inside target material shows lower polarisation than the others outside. This could be due to magnetic skin effect. Unfortunately the upstream small coil was broken and thus the polarisation value can not be compared to a similar coil. The maximum average polarisations are similar to 2001 data about +57 % and -46%. The polarisation data is available from Yuri in Mathematica text file. It has average up- and downstream polarisations for D, 6Li, 7Li and p with the solenoid current. Jaakko showed Kaoris 80% certainty plot of polarisation for all coils. In Kaoris plot the jumps due to field rotation have been corrected. The values are consistent with Yuris results. Lower negative polarisation after first microwave polarisation reversal is probably due lack of FM possibility because of broken microwave PSU. c) Jaakko presented preliminary planning for spring 2003: http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/detector/target/PTspring03b.html The magnet cool down is planned after Easter Monday, which would give 40 % polarisation on 16th of May. The beam time starts on 19th of May and thus there is not much room for delays. The possibility to cool down the magnet with LN2 before Easter was also discussed. Cool down during Easter would require the new LN2 transfer line from Munich. If the magnet is cooled down before or during Easter, it will be necessary to have target shifts during Easter. The repair of broken Pfeiffer roots pump needs to be followed closely, since it may create extra delay to the planning.
