Minutes from weekly target meeting held 7th of February 2002 in 892-2-009 a) We had a meeting with O. Pirotte and J. Cosson to discuss about the work needed to move the magnet electropneumatic valve. Pirotte promised to make estimation of the cost. b) Norihiro summarized the temperature data during the TE-calibration. Four thermometers inside mixing chamber were considered: the Baratron 3He vapour pressure at upstream end, TTH1 speer in center of upstream target cell, TTH2 speer in center of down stream target cell and TTH4 RuO in upstream end of mixing chamber. The 3He vapour pressure is used as the real temperature in the TE-calibrations for all the coils. The error in Baratron temperature is 2 - 4 mK and the value does not depend on the magnetic field. The errors in the resistive thermometers are 2 - 28 mK. TTH1, TTH2 and TTH4 are also sensitive to magnetic field. Typical maximum deviation from Baratron is about 20 mK at 0.97 K and 50 mK at 1.44 K (gives about 2 % and 3 % error to polarization). There was discussion on how to use this temperature data in the TE-calibration. Jaakko suggested that the temperature deviation from Baratron reading is included to the error of polarization. Yuri suggested that only the Baratron temperature error is used in the polarization error. Also the field dependence of the thermometers was discussed (Jaakko pointed out that CBT primary thermometers would not depend on the field to accuracy 0.1 %). The field dependence of thermometers should be checked during the next TE-calibration. We could also exchange some of the thermometers. c) Planning for spring 2002 was discussed briefly. There is some preparation work to be done before April, e.g. moving electropneumatic valve, modification of target holder, tuning new NMR coils, installing pt100s, installation of roots pump. The isolation vacuum is pumped on week 14 and leak testing is done. On week 15 the magnet is cooled to 100 K with LN2. On week 16 we load the target material. The TE-calibration will start on week 19 and material polarization on week 20. d) Next summer we are going to have 106 8 hour target shifts for the target group members at CERN (Fabrice, Jaakko, Kaori, Kenneth, Norihiro, Yuri). The remaining 212 shifts we expect to be filled by other collaborators. The total run period is from 27th of May to 9th of September. The target shifts will start before this on week 16, but these 126 shifts are taken care by the target group only. Training for the target shifts needs to be organized. For each week there is a week target coordinator. We would need information of target members not permanently at CERN about their availability to the shifts (Alain, Gerhard, Gunter, Jacques, Jean-Marc, Peter, Stefan, Werner). e) Jaakko fitted the D NMR-line to the memory function coming from book of M. Mehring: "Principles of High Resolution NMR is solids". The integrated area of fitted curve was 0.5 % smaller than the raw data. The second and fourth moments used in the fitting agree quite well to the calculated ones from dipole-dipole interaction between D and 6 x 6Li's. Calculating 1st - 4th moments from the NMR spectrum directly did not seem to produce clear dependence on the polarization. A more careful analysis should be done to confirm these results. f) TE-calibration is in progress. Yuri is checking the data with Mathematica and Jaakko with root. The data from Kaori (with LabVIEW) has been ready for couple of weeks. The dispersion in the polarization values between different coils is still unexplained (crystal orientation?, filling factor?). g) Kaori promised to add also polarization points above 40 % to her plot on the EST-data between D, 6Li and 7Li. She will also try to fit the proton data to the theoretical curve. On the weekly meeting Mallot proposed that taking the signals of 6Li and 7Li is not necessary during the field rotation since the data seems to fit the theory quite well.
