Minutes from weekly target meeting held 16th of October 2001 in 888 Schedule for following weeks: a) Test magnet with dipole field on Wednesday 17.10. 08:00 - 12:00 to see that the cryogenics is ok. Check also the dipole field direction with compass. b) Measure polarization of different spin materials in target on 17.10. 12:00 - 16:00. This includes 6Li, 7Li and 3He. 3He to see where the phase separation boundary (if any) is inside the mixing chamber. c) Starting 23.10. 08:00 EPR-spectra with full polarization. Yuri will calibrate the speers by tuning the field off resonance and varying the microwave power. One EPR sweep is expected to take 4 hours. After the EPR-spectra is measured at full polarization, the polarization is destroyed. Then it is build up slowly again. At different polarizations the EPR-spectra is taken with the polarization of 6Li and 7Li (3He, p, 63Cu, 65Cu?). Also the effect microwave modulation to EPR-line can be checked. d) TE-calibration after the full access 5th November 08:00. TE-signals are taken for D, 6Li and 7Li. e) Unloading of target material not before 12th of November. Mixing chamber has to be warmed up to 100 - 150 K to prevent solid air gluing the Kevlar tube into the glass fiber tube. Do we need liquid argon for unloading and what is the unloading procedure? (Jaakko prefers to use LN2 if possible) The weighting of the material is not important for COMPASS experiment. The material will stay at CERN, but small samples may go back to Bochum. f) Technical run of the dilution cryostat, i.e. check the cooling power with different still heating levels. Can be done when there is no other more important activity. g) After the target has been warmed up send roots #16 and multireg to service. Replace the spare motor of roots #13 with the original one. Leak test evaporator pumping line. h) Winter shutdown 22.12. - 7.1. The cooling water of pumps needs to be drained. General: - end of COMPASS run 23.10. - DAQ run 23.10. - 4.11. - no beam 23.10. 08:00 - 25.10. 16:00, 31.10. 08:00 - 16:00 - suggestion from Alain -> Jacques: since the Oxford magnet will not have as good field homogeneity as the SMC magnet, could we test the effect of field inhomogeneity to the polarization? This could be done by small detuning of one or two trim coil PSUs and checking what happens to polarization. - target coordinator has to be informed if the cryogenic parameters (like LHe level in the buffer dewar) go out of the nominal values - filling of the LN2 dewars has to be done outside pump room, the floor has already been destroyed by cold nitrogen - roots cooling water pressure is now being monitored with multireg, if the pumps stop check the multireg, you can also call 72201 and ask if there has been a power failure, the big roots start in star configuration (R+S+T+N), when they go to delta configuration (R+S+T) you will hear a contactor switching inside the control cabinet
