The Hadron Calorimeter 1 (HCAL1) is a detector
entering in the Large
Angle Spectrometer (LAS) of COMPASS
(see description of the set up in
/COMPASS/DETECTOR/GENERAL/).
It is designed to measure the energy of hadrons produced
in the /COMPASS/TARGETS/
and contained in the LAS
solid angle.
The mechanics of the HCAL1, its frame and supports
are described in the DETECTOR section.
The calorimeter has been constructed at Dubna,
delivered to CERN and tested
first in the CERN
test beams and later in the M2
beam as well. The results of the tests including the energy resolutions
and calibrations are given in the RESULTS section.
The OPERATION
section contains manuals for switching ON/OF and monitoring of the HCAL1.
The HCAL1 contact persons are listed in the
CONTACTSsection.
